Busy Bees

Knitting away at the Skill Share Festival

Yarn Bomb Yukon has been super busy these past few months, hosting sit and stitch nights, organizing workshops and of course knitting at every spare moment!  There are a few things we could still use your help with

We have 15 of the 74 four x six foot blankets we need to cover the DC-3. If you have any unwanted acrylic knitted or crochet blankets that you no longer need, please consider donating them to our project.  If you’d like to contribute to the yarnbomb, you’re invited to knit or crochet a piece to add, it can be any size from a granny square to a blanket.  All donations will be stitched together to cover the plane.  Once the DC-3 yarn bomb is over, it will be taken apart and the blankets cleaned and donated to local charities.

If anyone would like to help organize, gather yarn/blanket donations or assist with publicity, please let us know.

We’re also looking for one or two people who could help out installing the yarn bomb on the DC-3.  We’ll be renting a snorkel lift to put the  yarn on the plane, so if  you have your snorkel lift license, fall arrest safety etc.  we could really use your help.  An honorarium will be provided.

To arrange donations please contact us.  Items can be dropped off or mailed to the Yukon Arts Centre, 300 College Drive, Whitehorse, YT, Y1A 5X9.  Thank you!

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of those who have donated their time and yarn to knit/crochet yarn bomb contributions, ranging in size from blankets to granny squares.  We’d also like to thank everyone who kindly donated yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks.   We’ve receive donations from across North America!   We are still looking for crochet hooks to teach workshops, these could be donated or loaned.

A big thank you to the department of Tourism and Culture’s ArtsFund for funding our project!  We’re so thrilled to be receive the assistance.
